As a Field Project Coordinator, this role is responsible for managing the planning, coordination, execution, quality, safety, and financial performance of asphalt and concrete construction projects from project turnover through final completion and closeout.
The Field Project Coordinator serves as a primary link between Operations, field crews, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards and project specifications.
This position requires frequent jobsite visits and hands‑on interaction with field crews, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. The Field Project Coordinator must be comfortable working outdoors in active construction environments and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Essential JobDuties & Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Execution
- Coordinates with Operations, Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure the successful execution of asphalt and concrete projects.
- Reviews project scope, plans, specifications, proposals, contracts, and schedules prior to mobilization to ensure project requirements are clearly understood.
- Participates in pre‑construction, pre‑job, and progress meetings with Operations, Clients, General Contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Develops and communicates project work plans, schedules, phasing requirements, and production expectations.
- Oversees projects from initial mobilization through completion and closeout.
- Monitors project schedules and production to ensure work remains on schedule and identifies potential delays or conflicts before they impact the project.
- Coordinates asphalt paving, milling, asphalt repairs, concrete installation, demolition, grading, seal coating, crack filling, striping, and other related scopes of work as applicable.
- Tracks project scope, quantities, production, and progress and provides regular updates to Operations and management.
- Identifies work outside the contracted scope and ensures potential change orders are documented and communicated before additional work is performed when possible.
- Maintains ongoing communication with Clients, Relationship Managers, Operations, Foremen, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Addresses client concerns and project issues promptly and professionally.
- Acts as a liaison between field crews, Operations, and clients to ensure project expectations remain aligned.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with Clients, General Contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and other on‑site professionals.
- Regularly communicates with the Client's appointed representative to review schedules, project phasing, access requirements, and daily operations.
- Maintains responsibility for ensuring all project work meets company quality standards, project specifications, approved plans, and client requirements.
- Conducts regular jobsite inspections throughout each phase of construction to verify workmanship and quality.
- Reviews asphalt paving operations for proper preparation, placement, thickness, compaction, joints, transitions, drainage, and overall finished appearance.
- Reviews concrete operations for proper demolition, subgrade preparation, forming, reinforcement, thickness, elevations, slopes, finishing, curing, and overall workmanship.
- Verifies work is being completed according to the contracted scope and applicable plans and specifications.
- Identifies quality deficiencies and coordinates corrective action with Foremen, Operations, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Holds field crews and subcontractors accountable for meeting established company quality expectations and workmanship standards.
- Documents quality concerns with photographs, measurements, notes, and other supporting documentation when necessary.
- Performs final project inspections and develops punch lists as required.
- Ensures punch‑list and corrective work is completed before final project closeout.
