Visiting Assistant Professor and Interim Director of Instrumental Music

The Department of Music at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a one-year visiting position as Visiting Assistant Professor and Interim Director of Instrumental Music beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will conduct two ensembles—the F&M Orchestra and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble—and teach two additional courses in conducting, music theory, or composition, in accordance with his/her/their experience and qualifications. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Applicants should possess or be close to completing a PhD or DMA in Conducting, Music Education, Composition or an equivalent area. Teaching experience required.
