Qualifications- Illinois State teaching certificate qualifying the teacher to teach at the elementary level.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of the school staff.
- Other requirements as the Board may establish.

- Assists the Principal with the evaluation of Teaching Assistants.
Parents – communicates with parents as deemed necessary or when requested by parents or administrators.
Job GoalTo help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Performance Responsibilities- Teach in compliance with curricular requirements of the State and District 61.
- Remain current on research, new developments, and literature on education.
- Comply with Board Policies, Administrative Regulations, and Board‑Employee Agreements.
- Participate in curriculum development at building and district levels as required.
- Participate in development of District Policies and Administrative Regulations on an elective or volunteer basis.
- Instructional Delivery – use principles of learning and sound instructional techniques.
- Human Skills – stimulate students, bring enthusiasm, provide care and respect.
- Planning Skills – develop goals and objectives based on student needs and learning styles; provide individual and group learning experiences.
- Evaluation of Students and Programs – construct and use diagnostic and achievement tests; maintain and interpret records.
- Managing the Classroom – control and structure the learning environment and enforce self‑discipline.
Salary based upon Schedules A & B of the collective negotiated agreement.
EvaluationEmployees in continuing contractual service evaluated at least once every two years; not in continuing service evaluated yearly.
Physical DemandsRequires handling people, objects, equipment; bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds; walking and standing 50–75% of shift; requires vision and hearing skills.
Mental DemandsSupervise children at all times; manage multiple simultaneous activities; handle accidents and emergencies.
Work EnvironmentBusy and occasionally noisy environment; requires supervision of all students at all times.
ContractFalls under Decatur Education Association (DEA) Contract – 2022‑2026. Salary schedule attached above.
