Part‑time faculty are hired on a semester‑to‑semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours per semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses:
Columbia, Williamson, Lawrenceburg, Lewisburg, and Clifton, as well as several off‑campus and clinical sites. This position will primarily be located on the Williamson Campus with day‑time classes.
Instructor – Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry (or a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry).
Lab Facilitator – Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry (or a related field with at least 18 semester hours in Chemistry).

Salary is $560 per credit hour. Workload adjustments are made for classes where contact hours exceed credit hours. A travel stipend may be negotiated at the time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes. For part‑time faculty who continue to work at Columbia State, salary is based on collegiate level teaching experience documented during the first semester of teaching.
Part‑TimeFaculty Duties and Responsibilities
The part‑time faculty member reports directly to the dean for assignments and is responsible for:
- Preparing for courses as assigned and adhering to departmental course syllabi and minimum student learning outcomes.
- Beginning and ending all classes on schedule.
- Organizing, assigning, and supervising student learning activities.
- Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment; evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, participation, and grades.
- Reading Columbia State email and responding to student questions in a timely manner.
- Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, student enrollment, and related documentation.
