Special Education Teacher, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities
Exciting opportunity available for a dedicated Special Education professional passionate about early childhood education. In this contract role, you’ll work with a Pre‑K caseload, providing specialized instruction and support to young learners and their families throughout the academic year. You'll collaborate closely with staff in a welcoming elementary school environment, sharing your expertise and actively engaging in developing individualized education plans for your students.
KeyQualifications:
- Valid Tennessee Special Education License with one or more of the following endorsements: 459, 465, 468, 2000, 2001
- Candidates with an active TN SPED endorsement may qualify to add a Pre‑K endorsement by passing the required Praxis exam—the school will cover the Praxis cost for the right candidate
- Experience or coursework working with preschool-aged children or early learners in special education settings
- Ability to design and implement effective interventions based on student IEPs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Teach and support a Pre‑K caseload, providing individualized and small group instruction
- Develop and track student IEP goals in coordination with other educators and families
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to address diverse learning needs
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
