We’re seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer to support hardware lifecycle management, platform upgrades, and the transition of enterprise workloads from VMware 8 to a modern Nutanix environment. This is a hands‑on engineering role responsible for the buildout, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual infrastructure across multiple data center locations. You will work across high‑density compute environments, Cisco UCS hardware, and critical workloads while supporting after‑hours operational needs.
If you enjoy being in the data center, solving complex infrastructure challenges, and guiding organizations through modernization, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do- Manage and execute data center hardware renewals, refreshes, and lifecycle upgrades
- Support, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere 8 workloads, including large‑scale virtual server builds
- Assist with the migration and transition of workloads into a Nutanix environment
- Perform on‑site and remote maintenance for both virtual and physical servers
- Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco UCS server infrastructure
- Build, configure, and deploy new servers as required (virtual + bare metal)
- Provide after‑hours second‑shift coverage for maintenance windows and emergency support
- Travel to data center locations for installations, hardware replacements, cabling, on‑site diagnostics, and upgrades
- Support identity and access management tasks, including adding new users during the transition period
- 5–7+ years of experience in data center infrastructure engineering
- Proven track record managing hardware renewals, upgrades, and lifecycle replacements
- Strong hands‑on experience with VMware 8 — must be able to build 80–90% of virtual servers (500+ servers)
- Experience with Nutanix clusters and platform transitions
- Working knowledge of Cisco UCS hardware (blades, chassis, fabric interconnects)
- Experience supporting both virtual and physical server deployments
- Ability to perform after‑hours maintenance and second‑shift responsibilities
- Willingness to travel for on‑site support at data centers
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) operations
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
You’ll play a critical role in modernizing our compute environment and ensuring availability of systems that keep the business running. If you thrive in fast‑paced infrastructure environments and want to take ownership of large‑scale virtualization and hardware operations, we want to talk to you.
