Position Summary
As a mid-level refrigeration design engineer at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute expertise across our six market sectors:
Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. You will integrate our engineering knowledge with on-site experience from Henderson Building Solutions to deliver a client experience unlike any other.
- Perform calculations and designs for basic to advanced engineering systems independently.
- Prepare electrical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Research and recommend feasibility of systems or equipment, evaluating product suitability.
- Assist with developing, establishing, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners and customers to support business development and pursuit activities.
- Seek continuous learning in industry software such as Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office products.
- Support or be responsible for project coordination activities, including managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, responding to client questions, and coordinating project delivery.
- Act as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.
Mid‑Level – II
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering preferred, with 3 years of relevant experience; or 5 years of experience without a degree required. Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
Experienced Level – III
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering preferred, with 7 years of relevant experience; or 9 years of experience without a degree required. Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
- At least 1 year of prior exposure to mechanical/HVAC and refrigeration design in commercial projects, retail, or related markets.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of engineering design, industry codes, design guides, and required standards.

Denver – $83,600 to $145,200
Las Vegas – $92,400 to $119,700
Los Angeles – $88,160 to $153,120
New York – $92,720 to $161,040
Washington DC – $88,160 to $153,120
