Senior Roadway Design Engineer
AECOM is actively seeking Senior Roadway Design Engineers to join a dynamic and highly technical team of planners, engineers, and technicians in the Nashville area office. As a Senior Roadway Design Engineer, you will lead highway and roadway design projects for a variety of clients in public and private industries. You will also have the opportunity to be part of cutting-edge design projects that utilize the latest technologies for improving all modes of transportation.
This is a hybrid schedule with the opportunity to work remotely two days a week.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical oversight/support
- Plan and manage tasks and team members
- Coordinate with other disciplines
- Interact and coordinate regularly with clients and sub consultants in the various assignments
- Design roadway geometrics
- Develop intersection designs
- Create conceptual development plans
- Prepare Maintenance of Traffic plans
- Develop Right-of-way and Construction plans
- Perform drainage design
- Design erosion and sedimentation control measures
- Conduct quality control reviews of design deliverables
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Participate in project meetings and presentations
- Contribute to proposal development and cost estimations
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices
- Manage client relationships and support business development efforts
- Other related design tasks as required
Minimum requirements:
- BS Civil Engineer or related field with 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience and/or education
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the projects
- Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Preferred qualifications:
- Professional Engineer License
- Project Management experience – personnel, budget, and client management
- 10+ years of roadway design experience
- Projects with TDOT, TN municipalities, or other state DOTs
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
- Micro Station/Geo Pak and/or Open Roads or similar design applications
- Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn
