The MRI Technologist performs all MRI procedures in accordance with established department policies and procedures, ensuring the best possible patient care services are delivered. The role includes participation in on‑call rotation.

• Perform all magnetic resonance imaging procedures according to established department protocols.
• Perform an appropriate volume of procedures according to patient load by shift.
• Ensure that the correct patient information and technical settings are entered prior to execution of the procedure.
• Prepare and administer intravenous contrast media according to established protocols.
• Perform venipuncture using sterile technique.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
• Process, record, and archive images for evaluation, interpretation, and maintenance purposes.
• Complete filming of all cases in a timely fashion according to radiologist requirements.
• Send image data to PACS promptly.
• Perform all tasks associated with the proper execution of a MR examination in accordance with the established department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Accept assignments from supervisor positively; recognize and perform duties that are not routine.
• Restock and maintain assigned work area/equipment in an orderly fashion.
• Assist in movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and imaging table (using appropriate restraint devices as needed).
• Participate in on‑call coverage as needed, displaying flexibility and willingness to work odd shifts as workload demands.
• Perform all assigned RIS transactions to ensure accurate patient and procedure information is recorded in a timely fashion for medical records and billing.
• Complete patient exam in RIS.
• Review and correct exam charges as necessary.
• Perform visual maintenance checks on all equipment and report all malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Perform quality assurance procedures.
• Provide clear concise information regarding mechanical problems and service needs.
• Record all equipment downtime in department log and notify appropriate personnel according to department procedures.
• Know MRI safety procedures and proper shutdown sequence of the system.
• Communicate with hospital staff and physicians in the performance of MR procedures to exchange pertinent patient information.
• Assist in scheduling of routine and emergency exams.
• Handle calls with courtesy and efficiency.
• Communicate identified patient‑related problems with appropriate chain of command.
• Demonstrate competency in performing all procedures for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and consider patient comfort during the procedure.
• Respect patients’ right to privacy and handle all matters confidentially.
• Ensure patients meet criteria for a safe MRI scan.
• Monitor patients to detect signs of acute anxiety or clinical difficulties.
• Abide by professional code of ethics.
• Assist in identifying patient and family learning needs and provide pertinent information about the procedure appropriate for age and level of learning.
• Evaluate patient history for MRI capability.
• Provide verbal education regarding the procedure appropriate for age and level of learning for the patient/significant other.
• Complete all required documentation forms as specified by the department.
• Complete incident and risk management forms in a timely manner.
• Complete patient education and discharge forms promptly.
• Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate teamwork.
• Demonstrate professional attributes and effective technical skills to satisfy job expectations.

• Certifications:
  
  LIC – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists;
  Licensure – Others.
• Work Experience:
  
  Relevant work experience.
• Experience Level: 1 year.
• Education:
  
  Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
