Brooksource is seeking a senior Microsoft Fabric and Azure Architect to join their data platform team on a contract basis. The organization has been scaling rapidly — and as a result, a proper QA environment was never established, and the current architecture team lacks deep Azure and Fabric expertise. This role is the solution to both problems. The right person will come in, evaluate the existing production architecture end-to-end, surface risks before they become larger problems, provide strategic direction, and build out a QA environment in parallel.
This is not a purely advisory engagement. Brooksource needs someone who can assess, architect, and implement — and who is comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving enterprise environment.
Responsibilities- Evaluate the existing Microsoft Fabric production architecture end-to-end — identifying known issues and surfacing unknown risks before they escalate
- Provide strategic direction and serve as the de facto Azure/Fabric expert for an architecture team that currently lacks that depth
- Design and stand up a QA environment that properly mirrors the production Fabric environment (this has never been done and is a top priority)
- Lead integration architecture across Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Snowflake, AWS, and other data sources — including a gateway connecting the AWS environment to Azure-hosted Fabric
- Support an ongoing Tableau to Power BI migration project and guide the broader transition to Power BI as the organization’s BI standard
- Evaluate and improve connectivity, infrastructure, and integration patterns across the broader multi-cloud data platform
- Evaluate the current administrative and access management environment and provide recommendations on proper configuration and governance
- Shift the team from reactive troubleshooting to a proactive, well-governed architecture posture
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI — this is the core requirement
- Strong experience with cross-platform integration architecture
, including Fabric Snowflake, Fabric AWS, and other heterogeneous data source connectivity - Proficiency in Azure infrastructure, networking, and cloud architecture as it relates to Fabric deployments
- Experience architecting and managing enterprise-scale data environments (this platform supports 800–1,200 Power BI creators and 10,000+ end users)
- Proven ability to evaluate, document, and refactor existing production architectures
- Experience setting up non-production (QA/staging) environments that replicate complex production configurations
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and implementation skills — this is not a purely advisory role
- Experience with Tableau to Power BI migrations
- Familiarity with access management and administrative governance in Azure / Fabric environments
- Background working in large enterprise or automotive/manufacturing environments
