For assigned software applications and under general supervision, is responsible for providing system support to end users to enable them to use application systems effectively in fulfilling business objectives. Troubleshoots applications and assists in the implementation and enhancement of applications.
A. Maintains application software- Installs software updates; assists in developing and implementing system customization.
- Troubleshoots software problems; researches, identifies, and develops solutions to problems; coordinates solutions with database management staff; prioritizes, schedules, and administers enhancements and defect resolution.
- Administers software access control and permissions.
- Monitors data integrity using SQL Server, Access, or other software.
- Creates or customizes detail pages and menus for use by end users; creates database tables and columns to be used during setups; tests setups for proper functioning.
- Communicates application issues to departmental stakeholders, management and end users.
- Works with infrastructure staff to troubleshoot hardware when the hardware interacts with a supported application
- Trains employees in use of application software.
- Fields Help Star (help desk) tickets from end users and resolves application issues within servers, databases, and other software applications.
- Performs hands‑on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing data backups and configuring systems and applications.
- Test setups for proper function
- Obtains feedback from users regarding their needs for application customization, upgrades, and reports.
- Assists the Database Administrator with special projects.
- Uses SQL server to access databases and write scripts to read, create, delete, and update information.
- Creates reports with Sequel or Crystal.
- Serves as member of team analyzing existing work processes and identifying solutions to processing bottlenecks, excessive hand‑offs, duplication of efforts, and quality problems; contributes to work process design of new work processes to improve efficiency/productivity.
- Contributes documentation to knowledge base as reference guides for other IT staff
- May document work process analysis and design with charts, graphs, and narrative reports.
Job Duties
Performs other job duties as assigned, including assisting departments in use of ERP in asset management:
- Enters assets in system.
- Assists stock room personnel in various departments regarding inventory set up and distribution and managing receipts.
- Trains staff in the use of the inventory system.
On‑Call Designation:
This position is considered an On‑Call eligible position and rotation on an On‑Call team is required.
Primary challenges of this position include:
- Overcoming user resistance or hesitance to embrace new software applications, system enhancements, or other changes.

- Job Content Knowledge: Technical knowledge/skills should include Hansen;
Microsoft Windows Operating Software; SQL, Windows 2005/2008, MS Visio, script generation, and Sequel Reporting Services. Must have experience building and maintaining databases for query and problems tracking, knowledge of troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques; ability to interpret and develop technical documentation for training and end user procedures. - Language
