Overview
Healthcare Information Data Scientist Sr is a senior role that operates with very limited supervision. The incumbent independently produces innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high‑dimensional databases and evaluates predictive models and advanced algorithms to extract optimal value. The role also involves documentation, training of analysts and super users, coordination of hardware installation and support, and independent judgment to resolve urgent problems.
Responsibilities- Analyze problems and develop solutions by designing computer programs or queries to retrieve complex data from databases in one or more programming languages.
- Apply theoretical expertise and innovation to create or apply new technology.
- Support EHR and other clinical or business information system database application build, maintenance, and configuration (e.g., building worklists, Boolean rules, populating master files, CDM, adapting vendor‑model clinical documentation tools).
- Support report build and distribution configuration of EHR and other clinical or business information systems.
- Complete assigned tasks in a project and/or tracking system, documenting completion promptly to prevent delays.
- Document and maintain application design and build documents, including Visio workflow diagrams, build trackers, and IT Service Management records.
- Participate in interface planning, design, testing, and contribute to test script creation and execution.
- Engage in activities related to project pre‑work, configuration, testing, training, activation, and post‑live support and stabilization.
- Identify and plan for current and future customer requirements.
- Analyze complex business and technical problems and lead operational work groups, documenting outcomes and next steps.
- Compile and assess user feedback, gather requirements for application configuration, and review application build.
- Document and communicate decisions, tasks/assignments, and deadlines to stakeholders.
- Guide workflow design, building, and testing of systems, and analyze other technical issues.
- Work with the training team to develop training materials.
- Support cutover and activation activities for the functional area.
- Review status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leaders.
- Implement approved changes to the system, notifying managers or directors of any concerns prior to implementation.
- Serve as liaison between end‑user workflow needs and vendor implementation staff.
- Maintain regular communication with vendor representatives, participating in project team meetings.
- Troubleshoot problems and respond to questions.
- Develop, conduct, and coordinate information technology or information management training programs for clinical departments, medical staff, students, and others as required.
- Coordinate new services requests—network, hardware, and software—for assigned departments.
- Act as the primary support contact for application end users.
- Provide after‑hours support through on‑call duties for critical systems.
- Proactively review, recommend, and implement data security, integrity, backup, and recovery procedures.
- Stay current on emerging information technology relevant to assigned clinical and/or business areas.
- Respond on a 24/7 on‑call basis to application and customer problems, ensuring timely and professional resolution.
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Management (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science (Required)
3–5 years of computer programming experience.
Skills and Abilities- Operational and project management skills with strong organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of software business intelligence, data analysis, data mining, compiler/decompiler, user interface, enterprise application integration, job scheduling, and server/network monitoring.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems.
- Expertise in programming, data modeling, simulation, statistics, and mathematics.
- Ability to parse data in common file formats such as CSV and XML, applying regular expressions and mathematical transformations.
