Division Vice President- SUD | Summit Healthcare Mgmt | Nashville, Tennessee

About the Job
  • This position will oversee 12-14 substance use disorder facilities and will require about 50% travel. Residential SUD experience required.

The Division Vice President is responsible for the strategic and operational planning for several SUD facilities within a defined geographic region. Works in collaboration with the facility CEOs and onsite management team. Provides senior level guidance in day-to-day operations, budgeting/fiscal resources, payer network relations, regulatory compliance and leadership development. Responsible for human capital management: interviewing and participating in key talent acquisitions, resource management indicators and employee relations.

Champions quality patient care in support of positive clinical outcomes and represents the organization’s values and interests in highly visible events and targeted growth activities.

Roles and Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Interprets and initiates managerial actions on various financial reports.
  • Identifies cost containment measures prudent to immediate requirements along with appreciation of longer term implications.
  • Understands primary payer sources, preference/eccentric, “front to back” operating requirements in support of compensable services. Identifies and adjusts barriers to achieving timely account receivables.
  • Assists facility CEO with preparation of annual operating budget with business necessity supports. Provides ongoing analysis of variances from budget. Assists the CEO/Leadership Team in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals.
  • Works with other members of the senior management team in determining and prioritizing capital needs.
  • Assists in preparing information helpful in contract negotiations with third-party payer and vendors. Attends negotiations as requested. Monitors facility’s performance to contract obligations.
  • Monitors contract matrix for facility vendors/physicians and annual assessments of patient related contracts
  • Works with the Corporate Compliance Officer to ensure conformity of contract requirements.
  • Uses facility budget, FTE reports, overtime reports and staffing matrix to manage available resources.
  • Keeps the Regional HRD as well as facility HRD informed of employee developments and requirements. Timely seeks collaborative involvement to promote strong HR practices.
  • Meets quality and safety standards consistently. Identifies improvement opportunities.
  • Alongside facility CEO, regularly meets/checks-in with patient-care service leaders and offering practical support when indicated.
  • Participates in Quality Counsel and other patient services committee structures.
  • Partners with facility CEO to identify and secure resources for staff and service development needs.
  • Participates in quarterly business development planning with an effective mix of market enhancing and sustaining activities.
  • Makes community-based appointments and upon request gives presentations on relevant topics collaboratively with facility CEO.
  • Partner with cross-functional departmental leadership to drive outcomes within a highly matrixed corporate environment.
Leadership Functions
  • Identifies and prioritizes issues of importance, including those priority issues as set for by leadership. Collaborates with department leaders and corporate executive leaders, as needed.
  • Communicates instructions, expectations and timelines clearly and concisely.
  • Maintains accountability expectations for self and staff in all areas of performance.
  • Engages staff in quality and safety basics to ensure sustained, measurable compliance.
  • Identifies staff educational needs and ensures they are addressed with education programs that are attended by staff.
  • Hold staff accountable for non-compliance and safety concerns, as well as attendance, following policies, behavior, and adherence to the code of conduct.
