How You Make a Difference In This RoleThis position is mission‑critical to ensure the successful day‑to‑day operations of the Tennessee Fire Services and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA).
Job OverviewThe Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational effectiveness of the Academy. This role ensures that all administrative, financial, and operational functions are executed efficiently to support the Academy's mission of providing high‑quality training and education for fire service and codes enforcement professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and manage daily operations of the Academy, providing strong leadership to staff while enforcing TFACA and State policies, rules, and regulations.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Travel statewide to attend SFMO leadership meetings and meet with fire departments throughout the state.
- Ensure all administrative functions are performed accurately and on time to maintain smooth operations.
- Oversee scheduling and delivery of training programs, ensuring fire and codes programs maintain a 12‑month rolling calendar and identifying course offerings.
- Manage the Academy within its approved annual operating budget, monitoring expenditures and implementing cost‑control measures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Direct staff activities to maintain grounds, facilities, props, and apparatus in optimal working condition, developing and implementing preventive maintenance plans to reduce operational disruptions.
- Provide long‑range planning for capital improvements to facilities and training programs.
- Identify opportunities for growth and modernization to meet evolving industry standards.
A bachelor's degree in Fire Sciences, Fire Administration, or a related field is required. Five or more years of management experience is preferred.
