Within the organization:
Maintains close and frequent contact with corporate finance and revenue cycle team members, admissions leadership, Division clinical leadership and utilization review team members along with their assigned Division CEO(s).
Outside the organization:
Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with external auditors, banks and lending institutions, payors, vendors, and regulatory and community partners.
- Partners with the Corporate CFO and Division CEO to develop and execute the division’s financial strategy in support of program growth and evolving market conditions
- Directs the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reporting for all facilities and programs within the division.
- Ensures achievement of business objectives through rigorous financial, operational, and regulatory oversight of all programs within the division.
- Effectively manages financial and capital resources to meet the needs of clients and programs while maximizing efficiency and minimizing waste.
- Ensures the timely submission of financial and key performance metrics; interprets results and proactively recommends operational and financial adjustments.
- Promotes the professional growth and development of finance staff throughout the division, championing effective teamwork and analytical rigor.
- Ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP), licensures, accreditations, contracts, and state and federal laws.
- Supports the development, implementation, and enforcement of financial policies and procedures, including internal controls.
- Monitors and continuously improves financial processes and systems through research and application of industry best practices.
- Establishes strong financial discipline and a culture of accountability and customer service throughout the division.
- Promotes systems of communication and collaboration between finance, admissions, business development, utilization review, and clinical teams.
- Partners with the admissions and utilization review teams to evaluate the financial impact of the admissions process, ensuring it remains efficient and client focused.
- Leads and promotes active communication with facility and department leaders around actual or potential financial risks or issues that could affect the division's fiscal health.
- Provides regular supervision for finance staff, discussing challenges, successes, and opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations.
- Collaborates with leadership to ensure proper interpretation and fulfillment of position functions, responsibilities, authority, and relationships.
- Balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback; puts team success over own interests.
- Manages sensitive or complex financial matters with discretion, responds promptly to internal and external requests, and meets commitments.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with the Corporate CFO, Division CEO, facility leadership, corporate finance, and all members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintains effective relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and organizations throughout the behavioral health field.
- Provides financial presentations to leadership, the governing body, and other stakeholders, as needed.
- Acts as a financial resource and escalation point for facility leadership when addressing budget or reporting issues.
- Ensures timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across the division.
- Assists with financial due diligence, capital projects, and business development initiatives in coordination with the corporate finance team.
