Position: Machine Operator (Experienced)

Machine Operator

Schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM (4-day/10 hour shift)

Position Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating production equipment to meet daily manufacturing requirements. This role includes setting up machines, running production cycles, monitoring performance, performing routine adjustments or tool changes, inspecting parts according to specifications, ensuring quality standards, troubleshooting minor mechanical or quality issues, maintaining required production rates, and verifying compliance with setup sheets and Control Plans.

Core

Functions
  • Operate machines to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product with high quality levels and minimal waste.
  • Perform in-process inspections of parts during the manufacturing run to ensure visual acceptance standards.
  • Produce parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
  • Execute operational procedures to ensure the quality of the packaged product.
  • Follow and commit to meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
  • Report material utilization in the production report.
  • Ensure daily production report data is reported correctly and up to date.
  • Recognize defective materials for color, surface blemishes, finish, and dimensions.
  • Identify the proper tooling required for pending production.
  • Inspect the condition of molds and component parts for damage and wear.
  • Inspect machine, conveyor, and tools in the department and notify Lead if a maintenance or repair form is needed or replacement tools are required.
  • Keep the work cell, department, and fire doors clear of trash and obstructions that could hinder performance or safety.
  • Maintain the work area to meet 5‑S standards.
  • Communicate with team members and support teams.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and support Leads, Supervisors, and Manager.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist whenever and in whatever capacity is needed to ensure continuous production.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Prior experience operating manufacturing, packaging, and process control equipment is preferred.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Physical Requirements
  • Medium work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Activities
  • Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, and repetitive motions.
Visual Acuity
  • Required close visual acuity to perform tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, inspecting small defects, operating machines, using measurement devices, and assembling fabrication parts at close distances to the eyes.
Working Conditions
  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production environment.
