Corporate PR and employee communications specialist (part time)

50% internal/employee communications 40% corporate PR (primarily industry/trade press; online reputation excluding social media) 10% executive communications and culture As an integral member of the Corporate Communications team, the Corporate PR and employee communications specialist will contribute to strategic communications efforts that increase external awareness and manage the reputation of Cook Media Global in industry press, and that inform, inspire and connect staff, helping them understand how they are part of something greater than themselves.
The person in this role will exemplify the ministry’s core values and will ideate, draft, fact check, distribute and follow up on press releases and announcements that reflect corporate changes, initiatives and successes. They will take a people-first approach to everything, will collaborate with a cross-functional team from David C Cook, Integrity Music, Group Publishing, and Fair Trade Services, and will never ever be bored at work!
Qualifications
Education/
Certifications:
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, strategic communications, public relations or an equivalent field. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in a deadline-driven PR or non-social-media communications role. Internal/employee, executive and crisis communications experience a plus. Though not required - bonus points for having existing media relationships in music, publishing or religion.
- Strong formal writing and editing skills (complete sentences, solid grasp on grammar and punctuation)
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) AP style
- A demonstrated understanding of the importance of relational equity
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing plans while remaining calm and collected
- Appreciation for, and dedication to, accuracy and clarity
- Ability to translate complex ideas and messages into digestible, easy-to-follow communications
- A passion for improving corporate culture through (mostly written) communication
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work on projects without having access to all the details
- Compliance with company policies, rules, and procedures
- Ability to operate a computer, typical office equipment and use associated software
- Ability to complete tasks on time, prioritize work, and solve problems
- Ability to effectively communicate with others (in person, by phone, verbally and in writing)
- Ability to listen, read and comprehend instructions, both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn, understand, retain, and incorporate information.
- Ability to listen, speak, write, and comprehend English.
- Must have some mobility in and around the facility and offsite locations.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull objects and reach, bend, and stoop.
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Valid drivers license required and obligation to maintain compliance with Ministry policies
- Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
- Ability to maintain a neat and professional appearance within Ministry guidelines
- Ability to maintain safety and security of Ministry assets
- Draft and distribute corporate press releases in a strategic and timely manner
- Coordinates efficiently with stakeholders to determine needs and secure approvals while maintaining editorial integrity and accuracy
- Stay on top of opportunities to submit Cook Media Global product news to industry editorial calls and trend pieces
