Position Description– NAMI Tennessee is seeking an organized, creative and motivated professional to support strengthen the organizational capacity of our local NAMI affiliates, encourage the integration of organizational teamwork, and support NAMI Tennessee’s Director, Program & Innovation and their staff.
The Manger, Affiliate Operations provides consultation, support and technical assistance to local affiliates across Tennessee, supports community outreach efforts, volunteer recruitment and retention efforts works collaboratively with NAMI Tennessee’s programming team; encourages events, and assists with fundraising/development.
The work encompasses a very wide variety of projects or major functional areas. Available guidelines are broadly stated and non-specific such as statements of work, organizational mission statements, and/or theoretical frameworks. The employee has full and direct accountability for results.
Job ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to affiliates on governance, volunteer development, public awareness and programs.
- Connect regularly with each affiliate to provide ongoing support, goal setting and problem solving.
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate bi-monthly Affiliate Zoom Meetings.
- Work collaboratively with NAMI tennessee senior leadership and staff to ensure effective outcomes and measurable impact.
- Support benchmark data collection and grant reporting as assigned and required.

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, communications, nonprofit leadership, or related field.
- Experience working with nonprofit steering committees/boards and supporting governance, organizational growth, and planning.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with good judgment and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Experience with community outreach and engagement.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to solve problems effectively.
- Experience managing budgets, making financial decisions, and handling reporting.
- Strong work ethic with passion and urgency for improving systems and resources for people affected by mental health conditions, along with a willingness to learn new areas as needed.
- High level of integrity, with a commitment to working with compassion, honesty, and effectiveness.
