Overview

Reporting to the Director of Engagement Communications, the Stewardship Manager owns and delivers donor stewardship strategies and programs that strengthen donor trust, retention, and long-term engagement with the Ministry.

This role leads and supports donor communications, recognition, and impact reporting, overseeing both strategic planning and hands‑on execution of stewardship initiatives.

Working closely with Engagement Communications, Development, Gift Operations, Donor Services, Data Services, and related teams, the Stewardship Manager manages systems, processes, and communications that contribute to a consistent, donor‑centered experience. In addition to performing core responsibilities, this role supports Development team members in other cross‑team functions.

Here’s just some of what you will be doing daily…

  • Own and lead key stewardship programs, ensuring they are donor‑centered, scalable and operationally sound to ensure long‑term relationships with the Ministry’s key donors.
  • Oversee content projects in close collaboration with Engagement Ops, Mar Tech team to provide fresh, accurate and donor‑centric content updates.
  • Coordinate approvals, track changes, and maintain documentation to ensure across‑team alignment and a high‑level donor experience.
  • Support Donor Services on complex donor communications, standardized responses, pledge receipt updates and stewardship‑related messaging.
  • Partner with the Sr. Engagement Communications Manager on above stewardship activities, as well as donor journey improvement, events, story captures, outbound calling, campaigns, reporting and more.
  • Prepare reports to share trends, track and maintain metrics, insights, from multiple systems to inform future decision making and effectiveness of stewardship efforts.
  • Communicate directly with donors regarding event invitations, story captures and various projects.
  • Collaborate closely with teams such as Data Services, Donor Services, Audience Engagement, Engagement Services, and others.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Donor Stewardship Focus

  • Report back to donors on the impact of their giving through strategic communications.
  • Maintain master stewardship and communications calendar in coordination with other community managers.
  • Execute innovative methods of stewardship, post‑solicitation communications and recognition opportunities.
  • Reach out personally to thank donors via phone and/or email.
  • Collaborate with donor advisors to steward specific donors.
  • Enter notes in Salesforce to track all interactions with top donors.
  • Develop and maintain the business processes to support the ongoing needs of the relevant donor communities.
  • Keep relevant systems updated on information, communication, and activities relating to donors.

Stewardship Program Operations Focus

  • Drive all programs forward with clear communications, key details and timely updates in Asana.
  • Lead or support the Concert Ticket Program, managing timelines, creating systems and products to improve data capture, automation and program adoption, and prioritizing donors and Donor Advisors.
    • Act as the source of truth for donors and Donor Advisors’ questions and issues around concerts, tours and shows in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the Engagement leadership team and others to make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
  • Draft, proof, test, and edit various donor communications.
  • Plan, purchase and prepare gifts and swag bags for donors, then ensure successful data capture around these stewardship efforts.
  • Lead in‑house mailing projects with label creation, packaging, transporting and keeping track of invoices.
  • Project manage the T‑shirt Program by aligning Gift Operations, Digital, Sales Force Marketing and Engagement Communications to deliver a high‑quality donor experience that balances team needs.
