Position Summary

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN is seeking a full-time Plant and Turf Healthcare Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Plant and Turf Healthcare Specialist will oversee the health and maintenance of plants and landscapes, ensuring best practices in turf management and environmental sustainability across multiple properties. Core responsibilities include developing and implementing plant healthcare plans, analyzing site conditions, overseeing pest management, training team members, and managing related projects to meet organizational and environmental standards.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plant healthcare and turf programs including fertilization, weed control, aeration, and seeding
  • Monitor turf health, soil conditions, and pest pressures; diagnose and correct turf issues proactively
  • Ensure consistent quality standards across all assigned sites
  • Apply or oversee the safe application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides in compliance with regulations
  • Train team members on IPM practices and turf issues
  • Conduct site evaluations and communicate recommendations clearly and professionally
  • Build strong relationships through responsiveness, education, and follow‑up
  • Application of pre-emergent in Landscape bedding areas
  • Apply Annual color fertilization & disease prevention
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and address plant healthcare and turf management needs
  • Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and client interaction
  • Ability to provide training and guidance to team members
  • Project management skills to effectively oversee and execute high quality turf and landscape areas
  • Oversee maintenance and proper use of Turfcare equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain accurate service records, chemical logs, and compliance documentation
  • Strong knowledge of warm‑season and/or cool‑season turf species
  • Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and pest management strategies
  • Commitment to fostering a positive team environment while achieving operational excellence
Required Education And Experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in managing large-scale landscaping or plant healthcare projects
  • Category 3 Pesticide License or HLT
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Botany, Agronomy, or Environmental Science preferred
