Responsibilities- Apprentices will be trained and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
- Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy to build skill sets for continued opportunities.
- Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
- Meet attendance requirements for required Union training for the first year.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel 75–100% of the time as part of the IMPACT Fly Team (or 50–75% for the Travel Team).
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL–CIO.
- 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts ethically and professionally.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self‑starter capable of eventually working independently.
- Prioritizes safety in all forms.
- 1–2 years of trade school or college with technical emphasis.
- Position is a Bargaining Unit Position.
- Pay Rate: $24.88 – $29.02 hourly, determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
- Benefits provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
- This is a Bargaining Unit Position but is subject to all pre‑hiring screening of JCI. With successful performance, JCI may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program, as well as continued employment eptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or the position will be terminated. This is not a guarantee of employment or entering the Union;
the Union has its own entry, qualification and screening programs.
