$22.50 to $33.13 per hour for Tennessee-based applicants. Salary range is based on factors such as competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

Role SummaryThe Field Service Technician supports vehicle repairs in both service centers and the field, including customer homes, businesses, and other locations. The role requires collaborative teamwork, the ability to operate in a dynamic environment, and may require travel to production plants or service routes.
Responsibilities- Perform or assist with vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections at service centers or in the field.
- Identify and explain the Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories.
- Use technical resources to follow repair procedures without compromising quality or safety.
- Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality.
- Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
- Identify improvement areas and provide feedback to senior technicians or leadership.
- Support service campaigns and containment initiatives.
- Document all work and technical notes for internal and external use.
- Work collaboratively with team spirit and maintain high quality with minimal supervision.
- Communicate professionally in customer‑facing situations.
- Stay current with technical skills and complete required training.
- High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential preferred.
- Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.
- At least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and no suspensions or revocations within 3‑5 years.
- Preference for ability to drive a non‑commercial truck and trailer.
- Available for a 40‑hour work week, including weekends, holidays, and shifts during early morning, evening, or overnight hours.
- Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., sit, stand, walk, and use hands for grasping tools and data entry.
- Capable of performing tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and speak fluent English.
- Ability to see, read, and interpret documents such as regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics.
- Experience interacting with customers, families, third‑party affiliates, and suppliers on mobile service routes or community outreach events.
- Hands‑on work experience in an automotive shop is highly preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The role is open to entry‑level through seasoned technicians.
- Background in electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid repair is a plus.
- Experience in start‑up environments preferred.
- Experience with parts departments, billing, and work‑order management systems preferred.
- Low Voltage & Electrical Systems:
- Foundational knowledge of basic electricity theory and safety practices.
- Ability to safely use a DVOM for circuit measurements.
- Read and leverage electrical schematics for diagnostics.
- Advanced candidates demonstrate deep understanding of automotive electronics, CAN and LIN networks, and command wiring repairs per manufacturer standards.
- High Voltage Systems:
- Understand high‑voltage risks and safely power down systems using proper PPE.
- Know functions of high‑voltage components and monitoring systems.
- Diagnose complex high‑voltage faults related to charging, isolation, and interlock loops using manufacturer diagnostics.
