What You Do
Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward-thinking talent to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. You will work on light and heavy commercial teams, using state-of-the-art equipment and tools, and provide superior service to our customers.
How Will You Do ItYou are a skilled HVAC mechanic with practical experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipe fitting, and mechanical equipment service. You will perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems, including servicing centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems. You will partner with journeymen and provide outcome‑oriented solutions at commissioning and aftermarket service.
Responsibilities• Service customers, solving facility inefficiencies and resolving service‑related items.
• Provide solutions, recommendations and quotes to ensure efficient facility operation and upsell opportunities.
• Travel 50‑75% of the time as part of the Travel Team.
• Install complete HVAC systems (chillers, rooftop units, plumbing and supporting mechanical systems).
• Use vibration equipment, mechanical shaft alignment tools, and other diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
Qualifications- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada.
- Dedicated member of a North America Branch team, learning and responsible for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
- Minimum 8 years commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
- Ability to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.
- Ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser, etc. of pumps, fans, compressors.
- Experience using vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
- Will pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Self‑starter with passion to learn and apply on the job.
- Prioritizes safety in all forms.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local license, and valid driver’s license.
Pay Range: $41 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
