Maintenance Technician - PLCs and Controls (3rd shift)
Position
Purpose:
The proper functioning of building and equipment allows for our products to be produced in the correct fashion. It is the duty of the maintenance technician to control, correct, and prevent defects to the production equipment and their components, as well as promote a clean, safe workplace. Proficiencies include the ability to diagnose and repair various manufacturing equipment in the proper manner.
Functions
- Must be familiar with 240/480V electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble industrial equipment.
- Fabricate parts as needed.
- Enter work orders, PMs and all other work completed into the EAM system. Submit daily EAM worksheet.
- Perform repairs and necessary maintenance on the building and facilities as needed.
- Perform the preventative maintenance procedures per schedule. Create work orders for issues found during P.M. inspection. Order/replenish parts used for repair. Keep unplanned down time to a minimum.
- Address safety issues as assigned in EHS management system.
- Assist with the installation of and movement of equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, i.e., SMED, Kaizen, 6S, Safety, GEMBA, Value Stream, environmental, etc.
- Versed in PLC logic be able to program, maintain, update and adjust PLC logic for equipment.
- Administrative duties as assigned, i.e., ordering parts, e‑mail management, on‑line training, etc.
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 8 plus years of manufacturing maintenance experience.
- 5 plus years of PLC experience and familiarity.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair PLC, electrical & mechanical problems.
- Must be a self‑starter and able to work independently.
- Able to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficient in areas of PLC, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic.
- Experience using various hand tools, power tools, fasteners, mobile equipment, cranes, etc.
- Experience with robotics a plus.
- Ability to learn and use maintenance software to record daily work completed and order parts.
- Lifting – 50 lbs. required.
- Standing – Constant.
- Carrying – Occasionally.
- Walking – Occasionally.
- Pulling – Frequently.
- Pushing – Occasionally.
- Reaching below knees and waist to knees – Frequently.
- Reaching chest to shoulder and above shoulders – Occasionally.
- Far Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.
- Near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
- Depth Perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Field of Vision: ability to see peripherally.
- Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
- Constant heat exposure (during summer months).
- Constant noise.
