Job Summary
Starting Pay: $27/hr
$2,000 Sign On Bonus!
A rehire will not be eligible to receive the sign on bonus if rehired within 365 days from the date leaving WM.
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business and the type of truck they drive. Drivers transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers provide pickup service for containers filled with waste or recyclable material, often weighing over 1,000 pounds. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclable material in residential environments.
Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify the Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify the Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service, or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out process.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by the Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
- One year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or one year of equivalent military driving within the last seven years.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public and complete records or reports.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Class A Commercial Driver License with air‑brake endorsement (upon hire) or Class B Commercial Driver License with air‑brake endorsement (upon hire).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
