As the Transportation Manager for Heavy Duty Truck Parts, you will be responsible for optimizing transportation networks, managing freight costs, and ensuring efficient delivery of our products to customers. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our logistics operations and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.
The key responsibilities include:Develop and implement strategic transportation plans to optimize delivery routes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Evaluate existing transportation processes and identify areas for improvement.
Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements. Source new carriers and freight partners to expand transportation options and improve service quality.
Analyze transportation costs and identify opportunities to minimize expenses while maintaining service levels. Implement cost-saving initiatives, such as route optimization, freight consolidation, and fuel efficiency programs.
Collaborate with inventory control teams to ensure accurate inventory levels and timely replenishment of stock at distribution centers and retail locations. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to schedule inbound shipments and manage lead times effectively.
Stay updated on transportation regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance with legal requirements, safety regulations, and environmental policies. Implement procedures to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track transportation performance, including on-time delivery, transportation costs, and carrier performance. Generate regular reports and performance metrics to evaluate transportation efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
Lead and mentor a team of transportation coordinators and logistics professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their professional growth and development. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment focused on achieving organizational goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience 5 years in transportation management, preferably in the heavy-duty truck parts industry.
- Strong understanding of transportation operations, logistics processes, and supply chain management principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), route optimization software, and other logistics technology.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
