SVP, Operations

Summary

The Controller is responsible for the integrity of our accounting operations and reporting on our fiscal health. You lead the accounting team, own the annual budgeting cycle, and serve as a critical advisor to Thnks leadership. This role requires a balance of rigorous technical accounting, process automation, and clear communication to ensure Thnks remains financially sound and audit-ready as the company grows.

Your

Role

As our Controller , you will be responsible for the integrity of our accounting operations, leading the daily financial functions, and reporting on our fiscal health.

You will:

  • Build and own the revenue recognition architecture for a business where customers pre-fund balances, including contract liabilities, timing recognition on value that is never redeemed, and the estimates behind both.
  • Improve the integration to tie revenue from our transaction systems to the general ledger, managing millions of individual transactions.
  • Replace legacy manual accounting treatments with scalable rules that hold as we add customers.
  • Construct the daily operations of the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, partnering with department heads to align resources with company strategy and short- and long-term goals.
  • Present financial statements, providing executive leadership with clear insights into financial posture, cash flow, and budget-to-actual performance.
  • Design robust internal controls and documentation to secure clean financial audits.
  • Build and oversee all tax filings, regulatory compliance, and treasury management.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven Experience: 8+ years of accounting experience.
  • Credentials: Active CPA license with strong expertise in GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Public Accounting: Prior experience at a public accounting firm required.
  • Principal vs. Agent: Comfort with principal versus agent analysis under ASC 606 and with gross versus net presentation.
  • Defended Estimates: You have defended an estimate. You have owned a revenue estimate that an external auditor challenged, and you can walk us through how you supported it.
  • Strategic Communicator: Outstanding ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial executive leadership.
  • Organized and Agile: A proven track record of implementing scalable systems and workflows today that can seamlessly handle increased transaction volumes tomorrow.
  • Geographic Presence: Ability to be on-site at our office in Franklin, TN Monday through Thursday to collaborate closely with the operations and leadership teams.
What's in It for You?
  • Experience shaping the financial operations and fiscal strategy of a rapidly growing company.
  • Direct mentorship, high-impact visibility, and a strong partnership with the senior executive team.
  • A collaborative and supportive team culture that deeply values innovation, execution, and financial transparency.
  • Audit Excellence: Maintaining pristine, audit-ready financial records that consistently reflect GAAP compliance.
  • Financial Transparency: Providing stakeholders with real-time, actionable visibility into runway and financial health.
  • Scalable Accounting: Implementing systems that handle increasing transaction volumes without linear headcount growth.
  • Budget Alignment: Ensuring departmental spend remains consistently aligned with strategic priorities and runway.
Our Commitment to You
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance (80-100% employer-covered).
  • Future Planning: 401(k) matching.
  • Stipends: Monthly cell phone and internet stipend.
  • Work-Life Balance: 20 PTO days, company-paid holidays, and maternity leave.
  • Wellbeing: Company-paid life and long-term disability insurance.
  • Team Spirit: Regular team-building and community events.
