Job DescriptionGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the school principal, plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Provide professional instruction and teaching utilizing data analysis effectively to a diverse population of students as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and academic level, e.g., general education students, advanced and remedial students, and disabled students.
- Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery and requirements as established by the School District and applicable educational systems appropriate to the specified course of discipline.
- Organize and effectively communicate class/course objectives, standards, and requirements for achievement, e.g., syllabi, tests, and specific tasks.
- Provide guidance and assistance to students as needed to ensure appropriate assimilation of the course content to support student success and achievement.
- Ensure all appropriate measures are in effect for special needs students.
- Administer tests and conduct evaluation and grading as applicable to the student's specific assignments.
- Calculate student scores and grades and submit students' final class/course grades.
- Identify and determine the appropriate course of action necessary for the resolution of students' academic issues and concerns.
- Ensure professional growth as appropriate to instructional assignments.
- Refer advanced disciplinary issues to appropriate staff/personnel.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of FCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, FCPS policies, and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into the curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
/ Certifications / Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; supplemented by a demonstrated aptitude for working with children; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain current Teaching Certification, and all necessary academic certifications for the discipline being delivered.
Salary and Position TypeFull-Time. Salary: $50,270 to $77,255 per year, commensurate with education and experience based on the Franklin City Public Schools salary scale (pending School Board approval).
Working Conditions andPhysical Requirements
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone;
physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
