SCHOOL LEADERSHIP POSITION
The position is responsible for the leadership, administration, and supervision of assigned school.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and maintain an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, regulations, and strategic plan of the School Board; maintain records and files; meet and confer with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Establish a professional learning culture through a solid foundation of shared mission, vision, values, and goals
- Develop a collaborative culture for improving student achievement.
- Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
- Initiate, design, and implement programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Ensure implementation of the Franklin City Public Schools approved curriculum.
- Direct and monitor the development of the school's instructional program.
- Ensure the development of 21st-century skills with all students.
- Effectively demonstrates satisfactory or above performance on the principal evaluation, keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals, and discussing trends of mutual interest with others in the field.
- Make recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction.
- Assist with the preparation of the school's budget and monitor expenditures.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other required information and data.
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all School Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students; interpret and enforce school division's policies and regulations.
- Coordinate and work with the central administrative staff on school needs, problems, and/or effectiveness.
- Plans, directs, and conducts staff meetings to discuss policy changes, instructional programs, potential problems, and resolutions of existing problems and other school related issues; interprets and ensures all district policies, State Statutes, and State Board Rules are adhered to; submits instructional reports to the superintendent.
- Participates in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's personnel; supervises and evaluates the performance of all personnel annually, according to board policy.
- Establishes policies and procedures to provide control and leadership in the event of school crisis and /or civil disobedience.
- Establishes guidelines for desirable student conduct with respect to the district's suspension and expulsion policy and procedures; establishes and implements attendance, conduct, disciplinary, health, and medication procedures.
- Communicates with transportation, special education, and other special services.
- Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and media releases and keeps the Superintendent or his designee abreast of school activities and concerns.
- Develops and participates in School Advisory Councils, Parent-Teacher Organizations, and other community groups promoting the enhancement and development of school programs; develops positive school/community relations.
- Directs and manages the guidance program, testing program, and curriculum to enhance individual student education and development; supervises the school's teaching process, i.e., master schedule and teaching assignments based on student needs.
- Administers the policies and procedures of documentation and reporting functions of school records, e.g., Pupil attendance, school budget, expenditure of funds.
- Develops long-range and short-range facility needs at assigned school; directs the establishment of adequate property/inventory records and assumes the responsibility for the safety, care, and maintenance of assigned school.
- Leads and manages the development of personnel through training, in-service, and other developmental activities that are linked to student results, the school improvement plans, code of conduct, principles of professional conduct, individual professional development plans, etc.
