D. Camp Community College is a small 2‑year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk, with a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non‑credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center.

A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are also available.

• Teaching:
  Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills. Teaching encompasses four components—Instructional Design, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise.
• Scholarly and Creative Engagement:
  Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, participation in professional organizations, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity.
• Institutional Responsibility:
  Perform assigned or presumed duties according to one’s role at the college, including participation in the college’s development and evaluation plan for part‑time teaching faculty, required departmental, committee, and college meetings; adherence to college and VCCS policies; and maintaining a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff.
• Service:
  Provide quality participation and commitment to students, the college, and/or community organizations, including college representation, college citizenship, and community citizenship.

• Minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology or a related field.
• Ability to design and implement curricula that align student learning to educational goals.
• Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies for traditional and non‑traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies.
• Knowledge of methods to effectively teach Sociology online.
• Ability to utilize various technologies for communication, organization of data and course materials, presentations, etc.
• Ability to use formative and summative assessment measures to evaluate and enhance student learning.
• Experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, for group presentations or one‑on‑one settings.
• Commitment to stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the teaching discipline.

• Online teaching certification.
• Online teaching experience.
• Community college or four‑year college teaching experience.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods to include online delivery, hybrid and hyflex course options, content software web‐enhancements, etc.
• Willingness to incorporate AI into Sociology education.
• Experience with incorporating technology into education.
