MRI Technologist PRN-Outpatient-Flexible Schedule

The MRI Technologist performs all MRI procedures in accordance with established department policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered. Participates in on‑call rotation.

• Perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures according to established department protocols:
  • Complete appropriate volume of procedures according to patient load by shift.
  • Ensure correct patient information and technical settings entered prior to execution.
  • Prepare and administer intravenous contrast media per protocols.
  • Perform venipuncture using sterile technique.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
  • Process, record, and archive images for evaluation, interpretation, and maintenance purposes.
  • Complete filming of all cases in a timely manner according to radiologist requirements.
  • Send image data to PACS.
• Carry out tasks associated with proper execution of MRI examinations, following department and hospital policies:
  • Accept assignments from supervisor positively.
  • Restock and maintain work area/equipment orderly.
  • Assist in moving patients, using restraints as needed.
  • Participate in on‑call coverage as needed.
• Perform assigned RIS transactions to ensure accurate patient and procedure information is recorded timely for medical records and billing:
  • Complete patient exam in RIS.
  • Review and correct charges as necessary.
• Conduct visual maintenance checks on all equipment and report malfunctions to appropriate personnel:
  • Perform quality assurance procedures.
  • Provide concise information regarding mechanical problems and service needs.
  • Record equipment downtime in department log and notify personnel as per procedures.
  • Apply MRI safety procedures and proper shutdown sequence.
• Communicate with hospital staff and physicians during MR procedures:
  • Assist in scheduling routine and emergency exams.
  • Handle calls with courtesy and efficiency.
  • Communicate patient‑related information to appropriate chain of command.
• Demonstrate competency in performing all procedures across age range from neonatal to geriatric:
  • Explain procedure to patient, consider comfort and emotional response.
  • Respect patient privacy.
  • Handle all matters confidentially.
  • Ensure patient meets criteria for a safe MRI scan.
  • Monitor patients for signs of acute anxiety or clinical difficulties.
  • Abide by professional code of ethics.
• Identify patient and family learning needs and provide pertinent information:
  • Evaluate patient history for MRI capability.
  • Provide verbal education appropriate to age and learning level.
• Complete all required documentation forms:
  • Submit incident and risk management forms promptly.
  • Complete patient education and discharge forms promptly.
  • Complete all departmental documents: patient log, education, history.
• Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate teamwork:
  • Show professional attributes and technical skills to meet job expectations.

Allied health professionals perform supportive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to promote health and prevent disease.

• Certification:
  Licensure from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (or other recognized licensure).
• Experience Level: 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Education:
  
  Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
