Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor in Franklin, WI will be a key stakeholder for a new 340,000 square‑foot conversion facility slated to open in 2023. The role involves supervising lab employees to maintain high quality and food safety standards, training, planning, resolving issues, and supporting audits and quality systems across the plant.
Responsibilities- Lead and direct lab team members to maximize product quality, food safety, and productivity.
- Ensure proper procedures for product quality, employee safety, and state/federal guidelines are in place and followed.
- Support QA systems to satisfy internal and customer requirements, including process evaluation, product protection programs, sanitation, HACCP, GMP, labeling, storage, and distribution.
- Coordinate work schedules, estimate labor hour requirements, and maintain continuous lab coverage.
- Support internal and external audits; review records and report variances.
- Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Analyze and resolve work, quality, and food safety variances through root cause analysis; support team members in problem‑solving.
- Maintain quality and food safety records.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Provide supervision of assigned employees in scheduling, daily activities, selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action, and performance management.
- Review and update product testing procedures; train and instruct employees on quality and food safety standards and processes.
- Oversee instruction, implementation, and enforcement of policies and the Saputo code of ethics and values.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science‑based area (e.g., Microbiology, Food Science, Dairy Science) or a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in a lead role, preferably in dairy food manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation, and quality policies; experience leading and following Safety/Security policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, LIMS application, SAP preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; lead others through change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work.
- Strong team player and leader capable of working across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Ability to select, coach, influence, motivate, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees.
- Capability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Understanding of cost containment and budgetary principles.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to support plant operations.
- Professionalism and positive representation of Saputo at all times.
- Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, changing temperatures, and repetitive motion, and to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.
