Dental Assistant

Deerwood Orthodontics - Franklin is looking for a Dental Assistant to join our team. We are seeking a dependable, friendly, and motivated individual who is passionate about patient care and enjoys working in a fun, team‑focused orthodontic office. About

the Role

As a Dental Assistant, you will support the doctor and team by creating a smooth, comfortable, and welcoming experience for each patient.

Responsibilities
  • Greeting and welcoming patients throughout their dental journey
  • Supporting patient comfort and providing appropriate education during treatment
  • Conducting a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care
  • Taking and processing X-rays and other diagnostic assessments, including iTero 3D scans, digital photography, etc.
  • Providing superior chairside assistance
  • Preparing treatment rooms with strict adherence to safety protocols, OSHA, and CDC recommendations
  • Managing supply and inventory levels and following the ordering process as needed
  • Utilizing Ortho2 Edge for patient scheduling and record keeping
  • Partnering with the doctor and team to support efficient office flow and a positive patient experience
What We’re Looking For
  • Orthodontic or dental assisting experience preferred
  • Experience with Ortho2 Edge is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive, dependable, and team‑oriented attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced clinical environment
  • Commitment to providing excellent patient care
Compensation

$20.00 – $22.00 per hour, with flexibility for a higher rate based on the right experience.

Requirements
  • Completion of TB testing prior to starting employment
  • Compliance with all safety, OSHA, and CDC guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced and customer‑centric environment
  • If required under the state dental practice act, dental assistant certification and/or X‑ray certification
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job‑related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
Preferred Experience
  • 1+ year of experience in a dental setting
  • Dentrix or other dental software experience
  • Dental assisting school certification
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times
  • Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in‑person) periodically throughout the year
  • As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both team members and patients, a tuberculosis (TB) test is required for all new hires in dental office positions. This is a standard requirement for dental office roles and must be completed prior to starting employment. The test will be arranged during the pre‑employment process, and any necessary guidance or paperwork will be provided.

    Not applicable in the state of FL & TN.
