Lab Technician
Wage: $19/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours:
6:45am-3:15pm

QPS Employment Group is hiring a Lab Technician for a company in Franklin, WI.
Responsibilities- Set up and test residential and light-commercial HVAC equipment, including systems with electric heat components
- Conduct product testing in accordance with UL standards (UL 1995, UL 60335-2-40, UL 60335-1) to ensure safety and compliance
- Interpret UL standards and apply testing requirements to ensure accurate and compliant results
- Document test procedures, data, and results in engineering journals, reports, and tracking matrices
- Communicate findings and observations to engineering and lab teams to support product development and design improvements
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient lab environment while working with electrical systems and testing equipment
- Utilize computer systems, including Microsoft Excel, for data tracking, analysis, and reporting
- Manage and execute testing for a single assigned project with growing independence
- Gain exposure to UL standards and their application within HVAC and electric heating products
- Support lab operations through accurate documentation and adherence to procedures
- Build foundational knowledge in product testing, compliance, and lab processes
- Participate in performance evaluations based on milestones and daily performance metrics
- Demonstrate strong interest in developing a career in engineering or technical fields
- Independently manage and execute testing for multiple projects (typically 2 simultaneously)
- Set up and support application testing for additional business sectors involving electric heat, with minimal guidance
- Apply advanced understanding of UL standards to ensure compliance and proper test execution
Work autonomously in the lab environment with minimal supervision - Provide basic mentorship and guidance to Lab Technician I team members
- Support decision-making processes related to testing methods and product evaluation
- Assist with lab facility upkeep and continuous improvement initiatives
- Background in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or related technical field preferred
- Ability to work safely and confidently with electrical systems on a daily basis
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Computer literacy required;
Microsoft Excel experience highly preferred - Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
