Auto Case Packer – Responsibilities

• Read production schedule and plan accordingly.
• Efficiently maintain operation of packaging machinery by monitoring codes, dates and prices.
• Maintain adequate supply of roll stock and ensure all packaging materials available for each machine.
• Adjust machine micro‑logic set‑up as needed to maintain an efficient low‑waste operation.
• Demonstrate necessary skills to efficiently operate packaging equipment (setup, changeovers, proper running, procedural adjustments, sanitation cleanup, shutdown).
• Plan ahead for machine changeovers and efficiently transition between product items.
• Monitor and adjust each machine to ensure proper cut‑off of film and that bags have proper end seals and back seals as required.
• Ensure machines are running at standard speeds.
• Monitor and check weights and product appearance as required.
• Account for product run‑off and handle this product accordingly; sort and rework all good product.
• Keep machines and work areas clean: wipe packaging machines off and blow down area when required.
• Immediately report any maintenance problems to Maintenance Mechanic or Supervisor.
• Practice and adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
• Store supplies in designated areas.
• Keep work‑area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions; remove trash from floor.
• Follow safe lifting/carrying instructions for various sizes, shapes and weights; identify/report equipment issues; report all job‑related injuries to supervision.
• Provide leadership and direction to packers (may).
• May be qualified to perform as Back‑up Packaging Coordinator or another technical/skilled position.
• Monitor and replenish seasoning on overhead to ensure proper coverage on product (if applicable).
• Mandatory overtime may be required.
• May perform other duties as required.

High school diploma or GED and/or 1‑year production experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

Must be able to comply with the physical demands of lifting and moving stock by hand or with manual equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts. Ability to lift 40+ lbs on a regular basis, and occasionally more than 50+ lbs with mechanical or peer assistance.

Physical tasks include standing continuously, walking frequently, using hands continuously, climbing frequently, kneeling occasionally, squatting frequently, bending, twisting, and repeated overhead work. Work may involve handling weights up to 100 lbs and exposure to loud noise.

Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, occasional high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually loud.

Individual base pay depends on location and additional factors such as experience. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. The company offers competitive health, dental, 401(k), and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
