Position Description
The Quality Engineer II is responsible for ensuring that all products, components, and processes meet the company's quality and safety standards. This role focuses on developing and improving quality systems, managing nonconformances and returns, leading corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring compliance with internal requirements and industry standards. The QE II collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams and serves as a key technical resource for both internal and external stakeholders, supporting a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Develop, implement, and sustain quality management systems, procedures, and records in support of both operational and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and support internal audits, customer audits, and third‑party assessments; develop and execute effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, fishbone analysis) to resolve non‑conformances and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and submit PPAP packages, and related quality documentation to customers and end users.
- Oversee the internal audit system and identify and monitor corrective actions resulting from both internal and external audits.
- Support Modine customer base by providing first‑call support and acting as the Voice of the Customer in the facility.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and suppliers to improve process capability and product conformance.
- Manage RMAs, returns, credits, and ensure timely resolution of supplier‑related issues.
- Lead 8D RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) for internal and supplier nonconformances.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Review and approve supplier PPAPs; audit deliverables including Control Plans, Capability Studies, Part Layouts, Gage R&R, PFMEA.
- Maintain quality improvement and auditing systems with suppliers, focusing on process controls, quality control, and quality management systems.
- Provide technical support for supplier process improvements and capability studies.
- Serve as support to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (experience may substitute for degree).
- 5+ years of experience in supplier quality or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment; HVAC, refrigeration, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
- Proficient with quality tools such as PPAP, FMEA, 8D, RCCA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficient with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Strong understanding of blueprint interpretation, and measurement systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Travel up to 20%
