Hiring Low Voltage Technicians, Start ASAP!
The Security Installation Technician installs, services, and maintains integrated security and low-voltage systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government facilities. This role requires a self-motivated technician with strong technical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with access control, CCTV/IP video surveillance, intrusion alarms, and structured cabling systems. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring systems are installed to high standards, operate reliably, and meet customer and code requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and security wiring.
- Install and configure commercial security systems such as access control, CCTV/IP video surveillance, intrusion detection/burglar alarms, and intercom/communication systems.
- Mount and install cameras, card readers, door contacts, motion detectors, control panels, and networking equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and project specifications to plan and execute installations accurately.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to verify proper operation and performance of all installed systems.
- Diagnose and repair system issues in the field, providing timely and effective service to customers.
- Coordinate daily activities and project tasks with project managers, customers, electricians, and other trades to keep projects on schedule.
- Complete detailed service reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for all installation and service work.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow OSHA safety regulations and jobsite safety practices.
- Provide professional customer service and communicate clearly with clients and team members regarding project status and system operation.
- Work both independently and as part of a team of 2–6 crew members to complete installations and service calls efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with access control and video platforms such as Avigilon, LenelS2, Software House, Open Path, Verkada, Milestone, or similar systems.
- Exposure to leading security and life safety manufacturers and platforms (e.g., Brivo, Axis, Honeywell, Siemens, DMP, and comparable technologies).
- Experience with fiber optic installation and termination beyond basic cabling.
- NICET, ESA, manufacturer certifications, or other security industry certifications.
- Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, switches, and PoE devices.
- Network troubleshooting skills for IP-based security and video systems.
- Lift certification and experience working at heights on ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively within a crew of 2–6 technicians.
