Job Overview

Maintenance Trainee, located in Franklin, Wisconsin. Base rate: $27.25 per hour. Night

Shift: 12 hours, 2-2-3 schedule (work every other weekend).

Hours:

5:45PM to 6AM.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and apply skills to maintain equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive electro‑mechanical condition.
  • Support continuous improvement, production strategies, and plant reliability of snack‑food equipment and building maintenance.
  • Develop an understanding and practical application of governmental regulatory programs and policies, including National Electrical Code, EPA, Uniform Building Code, and local environmental agency policies.
  • Practice and comply with all plant and maintenance department safety procedures (Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, Arc Flash, Hot Work Permits).
  • Understand confined‑space requirements and assist with proper alternate entry into re‑classified confined spaces.
  • Follow all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMPs) for the assigned area.
  • Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per OSHA, and handle food safely before and after equipment inspection and repair.
  • Attend classes, seminars, and in‑house training to maintain skill level with industry changes.
  • Assist in making improvements and suggestions to optimize the maintenance program.
  • Execute and document planned and unplanned work findings and data during shift via the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • With assistance, execute electrical and mechanical work orders in accordance with policy.
  • Assist with equipment breakdowns/repairs and resolution.
  • Learn root cause analysis (RCA), breakdown failure analysis (BDA), and cause maps to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Develop and demonstrate understanding of various diagrams, including single‑line electrical drawings, mechanical and electrical equipment schematics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and P&’s.
  • Apply equipment care concepts of autonomous maintenance (AM) such as cleaning, inspection, and lubrication (CIL) and basic parts and tools usage.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass plant‑specific maintenance test.
  • Some college or formal technical school education is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually loud. Lighting, temperature, ventilation, vibration, and noise are generally fair.
