A day in this role

You start your first-shift morning at a clean, organized bench. A progressive die comes off the press needing attention. You review CMM layouts to pinpoint where adjustments are needed, check stamping gauges against part specs, and dial in timing, shear, and stagger with careful sharpening and shimming. You confirm sensor functionality, set pad and manifold pressures, and make sure nitrogen cylinders are doing their part.

When a scrap mark shows up, you trace it to its source and correct it. If a detail is cracked or worn, you repair it—or you head to the mill, surface grinder, lathe, or profiler to machine a new section or punch. Before lunch, you log preventive maintenance time in the PM database; by afternoon, the die is back in the press, running as intended.
