Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center is a state‑of‑the‑art ambulatory surgery center equipped with the latest ophthalmic technology, supporting retina, cataract, glaucoma, refractive, and oculoplastic procedures. The 10,000 square foot facility houses a full staff of specialty trained nurses, certified technicians, and board‑certified anesthesiologists. With dedicated operating rooms, laser procedure rooms, and comfortable pre‑operative and post‑operative areas, the center provides quality care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
PositionSummary
Our Registered Nurse will assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state, and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. RN’s oversee patient care activities during surgery and maintain a high standard of safety.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate appropriate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period.
- Perform pre‑operative patient assessment, review surgeon preferences, assess equipment/supply needs, and prepare the operating room by ensuring availability of required supplies and proper working order of equipment.
- Provide appropriate patient care.
- Perform surgical prep per standard of care and surgeon preference.
- Demonstrate appropriate protocol for safe use and handling of equipment.
- Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies based on surgeon preference.
- Handle and document specimens per policy.
- Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times.
- Keep surgical suites clean, tidy, free of soiled equipment and supplies, and properly stocked.
- Participate in medical records QAPI.
- Demonstrate a willingness to adopt new ideas and work in a changing environment.
- Understand, verbalize, and participate in the quality improvement process.
- Maintain active professional relationships with physicians and patients by assessing needs and satisfaction with facility services.
- Active RN license.
- BLS certified.
- Two (2) years of experience as an ambulatory surgery center or operating room nurse.
- One (1) year of surgical scrub experience required.
- Computer knowledge, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, surgeons, and staff.
