SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Food & Beverage Attendant is primarily responsible for providing front-line customer service at the course’s bar area as well as on the course utilizing a mobile vending cart. Seasonal employees are limited to a maximum of six months of employment per calendar year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares and sells beverages, including alcohol, to golf course customers both inside the clubhouse and on the golf course.
  • Operates the golf course’s beverage cart during selected weekend days & tournaments.
  • Operates a point-of-sale system and monitors inventory to advise management on needs.
  • Handles cash and provides for end-of-day balancing of cash and sales receipts.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the golf course staff.
  • Drives a golf cart, beverage cart or utility vehicle when necessary.
  • Prepares minor grab-and-go food items such as sandwiches and hot dogs.
  • Performs housekeeping duties for the food and beverage area, golf shop, and restrooms, as needed.
  • May perform duties relating to the golf shop, outside services or golf maintenance occasionally and as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the Town of Frederick and Parks and Open Space Department.
  • Knowledge of Bella Rosa Golf Course Rules and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of preparation of basic alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service by meeting customers’ needs in an efficient and friendly manner.
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to gauge workflow and determine priorities based on staff and customer needs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Must be energetic, have a positive attitude, and be genuinely interested in providing outstanding customer service.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • At least one year of prior serving experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the game of golf and golf course etiquette is preferred.
  • Alcohol service training is required.
  • Food handling training is required upon hire.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, see, and use hands and fingers to touch, handle, grasp, push and pull. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand and walk for long periods of time, and may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot food and beverages. Work is performed primarily outside; employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures and/or inclement weather conditions. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
