Position Summary:

The Commercial Roofing Technician - Shingles is to provide a service to install, maintain and repair the roofs of commercial buildings in a safe and high performing manner.

- Key Responsibilities:

* Set up ladders and safety equipment according to OSHA guidelines and wear fall arrest systems at all times.

* Inspect the roof for existing damage and safety hazards prior to starting work.

* Load roofing materials and equipment onto the roof using cranes, forklifts, and A-frame hand hoists.

* Ensure all materials and equipment are safely stored and secured on the job site.

* Remove existing roofing using pitchforks or shovels.

* Transport tear-off materials off the roof via hand, wheelbarrows, or material carts into roll-offs or trailers.

* Sweep the roof deck and inspect for damaged decking, insulation, or underlayment.

* Repair or replace damaged decks as necessary to ensure structural integrity.

* Install underlayment with plastic caps as specified on the work order.

* Install new pipe jacks using shingle stick.

* Install all shingles using a strict 6-nail pattern.

* Install all hip and ridge materials using hand nails of the proper length.

* Perform a complete site clean-up at the end of every workday.

* Provide instruction and training to new roofers on the crew.

* Additional duties as needed

Tools for the Job:

Required:

* Safely climb ladders and scaffolding using hands, arms, legs, and feet.

* Lift or move up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.

* Tear off materials for periods of up to six hours or more per day.

* Maintain the visual acuity required to operate power tools and machinery, such as roof saws, handheld power tools, and nail guns.

* Maintain adequate auditory function to hear instructions and verbal safety signals.
