About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager with experience in the construction industry to oversee and manage the accounts payable function. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, manage vendor relationships, and lead a team that supports seamless financial operations. This role requires an individual with strong leadership skills, knowledge of construction accounting practices, and a commitment to financial compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and supervise the accounts payable team in processing payments, reconciling statements, and managing invoice workflows.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements specific to the construction industry.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and manage vendor communications professionally and efficiently.
- Liaise with procurement, project managers, and other departments to address payment or coding issues related to construction projects.
- Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, providing insights on aged payables, discount opportunities, and cash flow impact.
- Participate in audits and support the implementation of process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices in accounts payable and construction finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounts payable.
- Previous experience in the construction industry (contractor or subcontractor environment).
- Strong understanding of construction accounting (e.g., job costing, lien waivers, AIAs, retention, etc.).
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar ERP).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements in construction.
- Experience with process automation or digital transformation initiatives in accounts payable.
