Position Duties

This position is responsible for providing direct assistance and customer service to internal and external clients at the MD Police and Correctional Training Commission’s Public Safety Education and Training Center (PSETC). It functions as a general Guest Services Specialist and assists the Guest Services Unit and other operational units with day‑to‑day support functions. Primary functions include reception desk duties, security screening of visitors, preparation of weekly activity schedules, generation of work orders, facility inspections, inventory management, and coordination of logistics for special events.

  • Provides face‑to‑face customer service to all guests and staff at the PSETC.
  • Performs daily receptionist duties, responding to inquiries in person, by telephone, or via email.
  • Provides administrative support to the Guest Services Administrator, including review of reservation requests and preparation of billing statements.
  • Orders office and janitorial supplies to maintain operational inventory for the front desk and other units.
  • Inspects classrooms and residence hall rooms for occupancy.
  • Updates residence hall notebooks and related informational documents for overnight guests.
  • Produces PSETC signs and facility directions for distribution.
  • Prints and assembles large volumes of manuals and materials for training units.
  • Assists with administrative functions related to overnight guest stays, including ordering supplies, printing labels, and preparing check‑in packets.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Four years of secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Selective Qualifications
  • Two years of professional experience providing face‑to‑face customer service as the first point of contact in hospitality, education, or government operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency, including use of Google and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired or

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting physical inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Experience printing and using print shop equipment, and assembling detailed manuals and training materials.
  • Experience with Nitevision software or similar property management/housing software.
Special Requirements

The ideal candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English and communicate respectfully with diverse populations, including individuals with different beliefs and behaviors. Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or another language is a plus.
