Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for an Administrative Officer I position within the Office of General Services.

Main PurposeThe main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Administrative Service Manager of the Office of General Services (OGS), and to provide consistent and dependable support to the daily operations for the Department of Labor. This position relates to the agency's mission in that it provides consistent and dependable support for Labor employees who, through their efforts, provide economic stability to the citizens of Maryland.
PositionDuties
- Provide assistance to the Administrative Services Manager
- Perform all duties related to fleet activities
- Perform data entry of mileage for state-owned and privately-owned vehicles
- File mileage reports and accident reports; initiate requisitions for procurement and disposal of vehicles; ensure the title is obtained from MVA; maintain an inventory of active and disposed vehicles
- Submit forms for ordering all drivers, vehicle, and vehicle cards for the agency; maintain records of auto accidents and determine repairs; generate Code 93 driving record reports from the MD Department of Motor Vehicles; review employee driver records once a year
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. - Experience:
One year of administrative staff or professional work.
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial Management Information System (FMIS) experience
- Google Drive experience
- Inventory experience
- Possess a Class C non-commercial driver's license that is valid in the State of Maryland
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
Special RequirementsAll candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of unemployment over payment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
