Sales Director – Branded Food service
McCormick, a leader in herbs, spices, seasonings, and condiments, is seeking a Sales Director to join our sales team. The position can be based at our global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD or remotely from any major US city (strong preference to be EST‑based). The Sales Director will report to the VP, US Branded Food service.

This Sales Director will direct the strategic sales effort to win and maintain business across U.S. national food service commercial chains as well as non‑commercial food service. The role leads a national team of account executives, driving profitable growth across the portfolio. Responsibilities include P&L management for all national commercial chains valued over $150M and non‑commercial food service valued over $250M. The successful candidate will demonstrate sustained success in setting strategy and directing tactics to meet or exceed budget and contribute to the success of the U.S. BFS Division.
The position is a strategic member of the U.S. BFS Executive Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team (ELT) to develop a strategic business plan achieving net sales, gross margin and profit for national food service accounts and non‑commercial space.
- Focus direct and cross‑functional resources against specific accounts and channels to achieve sales and profit objectives.
- Achieve pricing objectives to protect or grow gross margin.
- Remove barriers for account executives to accomplish goals and maintain relationships at the highest organizational levels within the company and customers.
- Direct projects and resources to maximize growth effectiveness, working with MKC management and client executives.
- Direct the strategic sales effort to win and maintain business.
- Engage globally across regions (EMEA & APAC) for U.S. national accounts expanding outside the Americas, coordinating internationally or between multiple business units as needed.
- Lead contract negotiations and relationships for the largest non‑commercial accounts across the U.S. (Compass, Sodexo, Aramark).
- Manage strategic and business planning for the territory assigned, coordinating with other directors to meet U.S. BFS and MKC goals.
- Work cross‑functionally with finance, marketing, ACE and supply chain teams to deliver objectives and build plans and strategies.
- Develop and manage direct reports, mentor sales team members, lead MKC teams regularly and informally, and generate ideas to solve problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management or related field.
- 10+ years of food industry sales experience; B2B experience required.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- General understanding of U.S. Branded Food service market, products, processes, competitors and customers.
- Vital skills: negotiation, communication, strategic thinking, relationship building, teamwork.
- Integrity, credibility and trustworthiness.
- Maintain relationships at the highest organizational levels within own company and with strategic customers.
- Establish top‑to‑top level working relationships with all functions internally and in customer organizations.
- Interact both vertically and horizontally internally and externally (approximately 50/50).
- Presentation skills: develop presentations for senior‑level audiences.
- Negotiation skills: communicate internally and externally at all levels within McCormick and customers' organizations.
- Project stage‑gate responsibility with technical and sales/marketing personnel.
- Critical evaluation of opportunities and independent organization of project teams.
- Understanding of key financial drivers and systems to monitor accounts and territory.
- Ensure development and implementation of account plans.
- Experience facilitating business‑to‑business relationships.
- MBA.
- Business experience in the consumer food products or food industry.
- Experience with multinational CPG corporations.
