This position is based onsite at Fort Meade in Linthicum, Maryland and will require travel to project sites up to 6 months at a time.
Job OverviewThe Construction Superintendent III serves as the senior project field lead, responsible for full-site execution, planning, and coordination of multiple concurrent or complex projects. This position acts as the Construction Manager’s primary on-site representative, ensuring that safety, quality, and production goals are achieved while maintaining strong customer and subcontractor relationships.
The Superintendent III provides field leadership through proactive planning, problem-solving, and risk management. This role directly influences project performance and serves as a technical expert and mentor for other superintendents, while remaining project-focused rather than personnel-managed.
Salary: 107,500 to 117,500
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties:
- Serve as lead field authority for project execution, sequencing, and technical resolution.
- Anticipate and resolve field issues with minimal Construction Manager input.
- Lead field coordination across multiple concurrent or technically complex projects.
- Develop and maintain overall site logistics and phasing plans.
- Attend pre-bid and pre-construction site visits.
- Supervise daily field construction activities and subcontractors.
- Participate in RFP review and proposal development.
- Solicits material vendors/suppliers and subcontractors for cost proposals.
- Review vendor/subcontractor proposals for accuracy and completeness per project requirements.
- Participates in schedule development and daily progress tracking.
- Independently lead and manage multiple active construction projects.
- Prepare and review detailed SOWs and assist with soliciting Subcontractors.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for technical accuracy, scope alignment, and pricing reasonableness.
- Participate in subcontractor selection, bid leveling, and award recommendations.
- Assist with developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using MS Project or equivalent software.
- Support the Construction Manager in pre-construction planning, logistics sequencing, and constructibility reviews.
- Review subcontractor submittals, RFIs, and change documentation for completeness and compliance.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure proper sequencing.
- Update project schedule daily to document work progress or delays
- Provide answers to technical questions that arise in the field as needed.
- Tracks work site dynamics and activities to include crew size, hours worked, progress, deliveries, etc.
- Communicates with and updates government and military personnel during field visits.
- Conduct site-specific quality checks and maintain QA/QC documentation.
- Implement the project safety plan and ensure adherence to EM 385 1-1 standards.
