About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Estimator to support the bid and proposal process for structured cabling and low-voltage technology projects. This role plays a critical part in developing accurate, competitive estimates that support successful project execution across commercial and enterprise environments.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction or telecommunications estimating, understands structured cabling systems, and is comfortable collaborating across project management, engineering, and client-facing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structured cabling installations by reviewing project plans, specifications, and site conditions
- Utilize estimating and takeoff tools (such as Bluebeam and similar platforms) to produce professional, comprehensive bids
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to fully understand project scope and technical requirements
- Conduct site visits to assess existing infrastructure and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities
- Source and negotiate pricing with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors while maintaining quality and compliance standards
- Develop complete proposals including materials, labor hours, equipment, and schedule estimates
- Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and bid correspondence
- Apply best practices in construction estimating, including cost control, risk mitigation, and value engineering
- Proven experience estimating construction, telecommunications, or structured cabling projects
- Strong working knowledge of structured cabling systems and low-voltage infrastructure
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu; experience with DTools or similar estimating software preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Solid understanding of construction management principles, contracts, and site operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain estimates clearly to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Salary range: $65,000-$120,000 (commensurate with experience)
