Welcome Center Student Worker

The Welcome Center Student Worker supports the strategic and daily operations of the Welcome Center by serving as front‑line customer service, answering questions through various communication channels, and providing directions and phone support. The student worker assists in all Welcome Center activities, including guiding students, directing them to enrollment coaches, and supporting the college’s enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives. The role requires sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students and the use of inclusive and culturally aware communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide excellent front‑line customer service and answer questions via face‑to‑face, telephone, email, text, and chat.
- Navigate and adapt to multiple software tools to manage customer flow and track interactions.
- Apply customer service skills, including active listening, critical thinking, multitasking, and appropriate responses to diverse groups.
- Resolve issues and guide students through self‑service systems such as People Soft, myFCC, and Blackboard.
- Research resources, collect data, communicate with appropriate departments, review documents and forms, and follow up on missing information.
- Articulate policies, procedures, and regulations to students, visitors, and the public.
- Prepare, scan, and link completed documents.
- Maintain data confidentiality, comply with FERPA, and preserve document integrity.
- Administer Photo and parking passes to current students.
- Participate in special projects requested by departments.
- Work occasional evenings or weekends if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be a term‑activated student currently enrolled or previously enrolled at FCC.
- Ability to converse in another language;
Spanish preferred. - Experience working at a higher education institution.
- Experience using document imaging software.
- Experience using a student information system.
From 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hours may vary as part of a part‑time schedule.
