provide for instructional needs and interests of students with the aid of appropriate and effective daily lesson planning; create a classroom environment conducive to learning; demonstrate a variety of teaching techniques and instructional resources to implement the approved curriculum; use evaluation to promote student growth in intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development; demonstrate fair, firm, and consistent behavior and promote self-discipline;

maintain effective communication and positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, staff, and the community; guide learning toward school system goals by following board policies and procedures; assist administration and staff in achieving the school’s mission by applying ethical standards; strive to maintain and improve professional competencies; supervise students in various school settings; maintain appropriate records; monitor use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities;

ensure regular and predictable attendance.

qualifications include:

  • associate’s degree or 60 college credits
  • knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices

  • ability to speak clearly and audibly in normal conversation, on the telephone, and to address groups
